China's top five tire factories target Cambodia's special economic zone
Recently, the Cambodia Business Forum 2023 was officially held.
Chea Vuthy, Deputy Secretary General of Cambodia Special Economic Zones Committee, attended the forum and delivered a speech.
In his speech, he mentioned that currently, there are 24 special economic zones in Cambodia. In addition to tire projects under construction or production, there are two other tire companies that are looking for project sites. It is expected that these five tire manufacturers will bring at least 200,000 tons of natural rubber to the local demand.
According to reports, the three tire projects under construction are located in Sihanoukville Province, Kuki Province and Sa Rieng Province. We understand that these three projects are invested by Chinese enterprises. Among them, Cylun Cambodia Tire Factory, put into operation in 2021, is located in Qilu Special Economic Zone of Svay Rieng Province; General Shares Cambodia plant, started production in 2023, is located in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone. Double Star Tire Cambodia factory, founded in May 2023, is located in Kechi Province Special Economic Zone.
At the same time, another two Chinese tire manufacturers, in this year came to Cambodia to build a factory news. Among them, Formax tire plans to build an annual output of 2 million sets of radial tires project, is being approved. The Wanli Tire delegation went to Cambodia in May to discuss matters related to the site selection.
In 2023, the investment boom in Cambodia set off by Chinese tires is still continuing.
